Article 9

Powers and Duties of Courts

The Courts shall have the power and the duty to:

(1)

conduct pre-trial proceedings pursuant to Books I and II of this Code;

(2)

conduct trial proceedings pursuant to Book III of this Code;

(3)

conduct appellate proceedings pursuant to Book IV of this Code;

(4)

conduct extraordinary review proceedings pursuant to Book V of this Code;

(5)

investigate the conditions in prisons, police stations and other places of detention and to make such orders as are necessary to ensure the proper and humane treatment of inmates in such institutions; and

(6)

make such orders as are necessary to conduct the business of the Court and to preserve order in the Court.
