Article 137
Contents of Pleading
Pleading shall mean a statement of claim, statement of defense, counter-claim, memorandum of appeal, amendment thereof, application or petition and any other document originating proceedings or filed in reply thereto.
#Every pleading shall be written in ink, printed or typewritten on paper and shall contain only a statement in concise form of material facts on which he relies for his claim or defense.
#Whenever particulars may be necessary beyond those mentioned in the said appropriate Form, such particulars shall be stated in the pleading, with dates and items if necessary.
#Sums and numbers shall be expressed in words and figures and where a sum is expressed in foreign currency, its equivalent in Eritrean currency shall be indicated.
#When the court determines that a party to the proceedings, due to insufficient knowledge of the law, is apparently unable to meet these requirements, it can notify both parties of its finding and allow the defaulting party a brief delay to complete its statement.
